Over the past two weeks, we've been adding posts of our Top 10 list of best foods for people with diabetes. This list is a great foundation for a healthy diet, and we hope you refer to it often as you look for ways to improve your well being through what you eat.
This isn't a count down or ranking, just 10 great things to use in your diet that will provide the most nutritious bang for your buck. So in no particular order, we'll start with Spinach.
Spinach is a diabetes superfood. One 3.5 ounce serving provides more than 20 percent of your daily value for vitamins A, C and K, magnesium, manganese, iron and folate. It is a good source of B vitamins, riboflavin, vitamin E, calcium, potassium and dietary fiber.
And it's pretty tasty. Eat it raw in salad, or cooked as a side, and goes well in lots of recipes. This Spinach, Lentil and Feta Salad and Panko Encrusted Salmon with Spinach are two of my favorites that feature spinach.
